Mother 3 Tribute: Osohe Castle Exterior

Osohe Castle became one of the largest undertakings of our internal project, Mother 3 Tribute. We studied actual infrastructure of castles. Concepted what the sprites in the original game could translate to. Created a number of custom procedural materials, such as bricks, slate shingles and stone flooring. We also had to come up with a modular ivy that could be positioned in a way that complimented our swinging camera composition. Dozens of props, concepts, materials and a matte painting later we found ourselves with this final result. BUT wait, now shoot it again at night with custom lighting for Duster's iconic Wall Staple introduction scene. Sometimes the sheer scope of this project is hard to fully take in until you really break it down like this.
